Celtics G Allen undergoes knee surgery
The surgery was performed Saturday morning at New England Baptist Hospital by team physician Dr. Brian McKeon, who was assisted by Dr. Paul Weitzel.
Allen suffered the injury in a loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, landing awkwardly late in the third quarter after going up for a dunk after a whistle. No timetable has been set for his return, but he is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The 6-4 Allen averaged 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.48 steals in 33 games for the Celtics, who are 12-23 but just four games out of first place in the woeful Atlantic Division.
