Hawks Ferry hires Wilcox from Cavs as assistant GM
ATLANTA -- Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has hired a new assistant from one of his old teams.
Ferry on Tuesday named Wes Wilcox as assistant general manager. Wilcox was director of player personnel for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wilcox joined the Cavaliers in 2003. Ferry was Cleveland's GM from 2005-10 before spending two years as San Antonio's vice president of basketball operations.
Ferry has been busy in his first eight days in Atlanta. He chose Vanderbilt guard John Jenkins and Virginia forward Mike Scott at last week's draft before making two major trades Monday.
The Hawks agreed to deal All-Star guard Joe Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets for five players and a protected draft pick. Also, Atlanta will send forward Marvin Williams to the Utah Jazz for guard Devin Harris.
