DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks have signed veteran guard Mike James to a 10-day contract.
The deal announced Tuesday gives James a chance to play for his 11th NBA team in 11 seasons. He played 11 games for the Chicago Bulls last season and helped fill in for injured point guard Derrick Rose.
The 37-year-old James has career averages of 10.4 points and 3.6 assists per game. His best season was with Toronto in 2005-06, when he averaged 20.3 points and 5.8 assists in 79 starts. He's also played for Miami, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Houston, Minnesota, New Orleans and Washington.
