Hofstra rolls over District of Columbia 74-59
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Stephen Nwaukoni scored 13 points to lead six Hofstra players in double figures as the Pride coasted to a 74-59 victory over the University of the District of Columbia Saturday in nonconference play.
Hofstra (2-2) also got 12 points apiece from Taran Buie and Jimmy Hall, with David Imes, Stevie Mejia and Shaquille Stokes scoring 11 points each.
D'Angelo Johnson led all scorers with 20 points for the District of Columbia (1-3), hitting 9 of 14 shots from the floor. But Michael Terry (13 points) and Quasim Jones (10) were the only others in double figures for the visitors.
Hofstra hit 31 of 63 field-goal attempts, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. The District of Columbia was just 23 of 67 from the floor (34.3 percent), making 4 of 19 3-point attempts.
Hofstra, which led by 20 points in the first half, had a 50-32 rebounding edge.
