Texas A&M defeats Houston Baptist 67-59
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Elston Turner scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half as Texas A&M pulled away from Houston Baptist for a 67-59 victory Thursday night.
Texas A&M (10-3) led by only three points with 3:45 remaining, but the Aggies scored 13 of the last 19 points.
Houston Baptist (4-10) had a 33-23 edge in rebounds, but the Huskies committed 23 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Aggies.
Caleb Crayton led Houston Baptist with 13 points.
The Aggies did not trail in the second half, but HBU pulled within 49-47 on a 3-pointer by Marcel Smith with 6:18 remaining. Turner answered with a 3-pointer and made two free throws as Texas A&M pulled away.
