DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Scott Darby passed for a touchdown and rushed for another score to lead Georgetown to a 20-10 win over Davidson in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night.
The Hoyas took a 14-0 lead after Darby scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter and Brandon Durham scored on his only carry from 5 yards away in the following quarter.
Darby, who finished with 58 yards on 17 carries, completed 14 of 23 passes for 130 yards for the Hoyas. Phillip Oladeji led Georgetown with 64 yards rushing on 15 carries.
A 3-yard touchdown run by Davidson's Kenny Mantuo and Ben Behrendt's 22-yard field goal cut Georgetown's lead to four in the third quarter. But the Wildcats did not pull any closer, as the Hoyas added a score when Darby connected with Jeffrey Burke on a 12-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Matt Heavner finished with 135 yards passing and had one interception.
