CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston has hired Duke assistant Candice Jackson as its women's basketball coach.

The school announced the move Thursday. Jackson takes over for Natasaha Adair, who took the Georgetown coaching job earlier this month.

Jackson spent the past three seasons with the Blue Devils, helping them reach two straight NCAA final-eight trips in 2012 and 2013. Jackson worked with the Duke guards.

College of Charleston athletic director Joe Hull said Jackson is a skilled leader who can coach, teach and recruit.

Jackson also has worked at Wake Forest and Richmond. She played four years at Michigan State for coach Joanne P. McCallie, the current Duke coach.
