Western New Mexico hires women's basketball coach

SILVER CITY, N.M. -- Rusty Kennedy was hired Friday as Western New Mexico University's women's basketball coach.
Kennedy coached the last two seasons at Our Lady of the Lake University in Texas. He guided the San Antonio school to 20-9 record in 2010-11 and a 26-8 mark last season with a berth in the NAIA tournament.
Prior to Our Lady of the Lake, Kennedy coached at Clarendon and Central Baptist and was an assistant men's coach for his alma mater at Oklahoma Wesleyan. He also coached the men's and women's teams at Bacone.
