Weisenberg hired as Pepperdine women's hoops coach
MALIBU, Calif. -- Pepperdine has promoted assistant Ryan Weisenberg to the job of women's basketball coach.
He succeeds Julie Rousseau, who resigned earlier this month after nine seasons. Weisenberg joined the Waves' staff last season after 15 years coaching in the high school, collegiate and pro ranks.
Weisenberg takes over a program that was 5-23 last season. The Waves' incoming roster includes four upperclassmen but no seniors.
Before coming to Pepperdine, Weisenberg spent three seasons coaching men's pro basketball in New Zealand. He also worked in various jobs for the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Comets, and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks.
The hiring was announced Tuesday.
