Seahawks hold their final practice for Super Bowl
The Seahawks practiced for 77 minutes at the New York Giants' practice facility Friday, opening the five doors at the Quest Diagnostics Center to simulate the mid-30s temperatures expected Sunday night.
The NFC champions will hold a walk-through practice Saturday.
Coach Pete Carroll felt the practices have gone well for the Seahawks, who are seeking their first Super Bowl title.
"And now, we wait," Carroll told a pool reporter.
Second-year quarterback Russell Wilson appeared crisp in his execution of the offense.
"Russell is exactly where he's always pictured he'd be in life," Carroll said. "He prepares impeccably, and he has prepared like that this week. I think he is ready to play a very good game."
The Seahawks installed their game plan for the Super Bowl last week at home in Renton, Wash. This week has been spent going over it in practices without pads.
Seattle is healthy entering the game. All 61 roster and practice squad players participated fully in practice. Wide outs Percy Harvin (concussion) and Doug Baldwin (hip) ran freely for the third straight day.
Four players switched jerseys for practice. Right tackle Breno Giacomini squeezed into Marshawn Lynch's No. 24, while Giacomini's No. 66 looked like a mini-dress on Lynch, who has had fun at practice all week after being short with the media. Left tackle Russell Okung wore fullback Michael Robinson's No. 26 and Robinson floated in Okung's No. 76.
Friday's work began with special teams practice, field goals by kicker Steven Hauschka and punts by Jon Ryan. The team practiced red-zone plays on both sides of the ball as well. In scout team play, Richard Sherman intercepted practice-squad quarterback B.J. Daniels, his second pick of the week.
Carroll praised the Giants organization and the staff at the training facility for cooperating with the Seahawks.
"The Giants have been fantastic in opening their doors to us. They've treated us great," Carroll said. "Anything we've needed we've gotten.
"So we're grateful to them for everything they've done."
