Dolphins sign T McDougle
MIAMI - The Miami Dolphins took a step toward bolstering their offensive line Tuesday, signing free agent tackle Stockar McDougle to a one-year contract.
McDougle, 28, started all 16 games for the Detroit Lions at right tackle each of the last two seasons. During that span, the Lions allowed only 48 sacks, including a franchise-record 11 in 2003.
Last season, McDougle helped pave the way for rookie Kevin Jones to rush for 1,133 yards, good for fifth in the NFC.
McDougle, whose brother Jerome is a defensive end for the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, was a first-round pick of the Lions in 2000 and played in 61 games, including 53 starts.
