Peterson named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Vikings are off this week, but running back Adrian Peterson received the first of what should be dozens of awards he'll get in his career.
Peterson, who leads the NFC in rushing with 383 yards, on Wednesday was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for September. Peterson, who also has 166 yards receiving, was drafted out of Oklahoma with the seventh overall pick.
Coach Brad Childress has been committed to starting Chester Taylor in the backfield when he's healthy, but Peterson's success has led to criticism of Childress for not using Peterson enough in an offense that has struggled to score over the past two seasons.
