NEW YORK -- Comments on the Minnesota Vikings by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

MINNESOTA VIKINGS (15)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 16) -- So is the performance of Adrian Peterson.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 15) -- The incomparable Adrian Peterson is leading a surprising season.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 14)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 15) -- If Ponder and the passing game play as well as they did last week and you combine that with Adrian Peterson, you could have the makings of a playoff team.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 14) -- Adrian Peterson's a medical marvel. Less than a year after ACL surgery, he leads the NFL in rushing. Last four games: a combined 629 yards and five TDs.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 13) -- Adrian Peterson has scored five touchdowns in the last four weeks and averaged 157.3 yards per game during that stretch.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 13) -- Anyone who watches Adrian Peterson shred another defense shares the same thought: Where can I get the number of his knee surgeon?

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 15) -- Adrian Peterson might face nine defenders in the box from here on out.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 14) -- A red hot start a few stumbles and people were ready to say they were headed to the NFC North basement where they belonged. No one asked the Vikings who came back this week with a big division win over Detroit.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 15) -- Was it a blessing in disguise that the NFL's leading WR going into last weekend Percy Harvin was out? I think so. It allowed QB Christian Ponder to "run an offense" and go through progressions as opposed to feeling compelled to feed Harvin. Against Detroit, Ponder threw to nine different receivers (10 counting himself) and looked good doing so. Now they will welcome Harvin back after the bye.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 13) -- Knee injury? What knee injury? Running back Adrian Peterson looked better than ever in his 171-yard performance against Detroit.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 13) -- If Christian Ponder plays like he played Sunday, the Vikings are going to surprise some people in the last seven weeks of the season.
