NEW YORK -- Comments on the New York Giants by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

NEW YORK GIANTS (8)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 9) -- East won't be a cakewalk after all.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 4) -- Despite their recent struggles, history favors a strong finish.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 9)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 13) -- Tough loss last night, but Eli will find a way to get it done in December.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 8) -- Where have we seen this movie before? Giants jump out to 6-2 start, then slump badly in second half of the season. Same story almost every year for Big Blue, and this one's no exception. Loss to Washington drops the defending champs to 1-3 in their last four.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 11) -- If the Giants are to win back-to-back NFC East titles, they're going to have to earn it these next three weeks with games against New Orleans, Atlanta and Baltimore. The Falcons and Ravens both lead their divisions.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 11) -- Ebenezer Scrooge must have drawn up their schedule for December. New Orleans. Atlanta. Baltimore. Philadelphia. Bah, humbug.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 8) -- A 1-3 slump has opened the door to the NFC East crown.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 7) -- Granted they lost to the Redskins Monday night, but they still have the ingredients to go deep in the playoffs. They lost to Washington twice last year and won the Super Bowl.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 9) -- The Giants have been very inconsistent and to me it starts up front on both sides of the ball. This D-line that has been so feared and integral to their success and championships in recent years needs to start dominating!

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 7) -- Penalties, a bad field-goal snap and the defense's inability to stop Washington's read-option offense were the main reasons for New York's 17-16 road loss to the Redskins.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 13) -- Someone better tell them this is not 2011 and they can't wait until the last two weeks of the season to turn it on.
