IOC, Kuwait hold talks on changing sports law
LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- The IOC and Kuwaiti sports officials have held talks aimed at changing the country's laws to avoid suspension from the Olympic movement.
The International Olympic Committee said Monday's meeting in Lausanne was "fruitful and constructive."
The IOC has set a Dec. 31 deadline for Kuwait to amend a law that breaches the Olympic Charter by allowing the state to interfere in elections at sports organizations.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Kuwait-based Olympic Council of Asia and Faisal Al-Jazzaf, chairman of the state sports authority.
