Former Olympic bobsledder charged with extortion
CALGARY, Alberta -- A former bobsledder who competed at three Olympics for Canada has been charged with extortion.
Police say Ken Leblanc threatened a Calgary resident and claimed he was owed more than 100,000 from a failed business deal. The 45-year-old Leblanc was arrested Tuesday when police executed search warrants at two locations.
Leblanc appeared in court Wednesday on one charge. His lawyer did not immediately return a phone message.
Leblanc was a brakeman at the 1988, 1992 and 2002 Winter Olympics.
