Canadians sweep snowboard World Cup team events
VEYSONNAZ, Switzerland -- Canadians swept the men's and women's team events Sunday at a snowboard World Cup meet.
Christopher Robanske and Robert Fagan combined to win the men's race ahead of two American teams. Nick Baumgartner and Bate Holland finished second in the final, with Jonathan Cheever and Seth Wescott in third.
Baumgartner gave his team a slim lead in the opening run and Holland was in front for most of his leg in the final before Fagan managed to slide past him just before the finish line.
In the women's race, Maelle Ricker and Dominique Maltais beat Italian duo Michela Moioli and Raffaella Brutto. Americans Faye Gulini and Callan Chythlook-Sifsof were third.
The snowboard World cup season wraps up with a weeklong meet in Sierra Nevada, Spain, starting Wednesday.
