Russian hammer thrower Kuzenkova banned for doping
MOSCOW -- Former Olympic hammer throw champion Olga Kuzenkova of Russia has been banned two years for doping and is set to lose her 2005 world championship title.
The Russian Athletics Federation says Tuesday that samples taken at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki, Finland, tested positive for banned drugs when re-examined.
All of Kuzenkova's results were annulled from Aug. 12, 2005, the day she won gold at the worlds, until Aug. 11, 2007. She won Olympic gold at the 2004 Athens Games.
Kuzenkova has since retired from the sport.
The federation also imposed a two-year ban on shot putter Svetlana Krivelyova after banned substances were found in a sample taken at the 2004 Olympics, where she won the bronze medal.
This year's world championships will be held in Moscow in August.
