European indoor women's champ tests positive
SOFIA, Bulgaria -- Tezdzhan Naimova of Bulgaria has tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid after winning the women's 60-meter race at the European indoor championships in March.
Bulgaria athletics federation chairman Dobri Karamarinov says Naimova has been suspended for the positive test for drostanolone.
The 26-year-old Naimova has the right to defend herself within two weeks and faces a life ban for a second doping offense.
The federation announced Naimova's A and B samples were positive from the test at the European indoors in Goteborg, Sweden.
In 2009, Naimova was banned for two years for manipulating a doping sample.
