Synchronized charity foot race across globe in May
In this race, a moving finish line determines the winner.
The first Wings For Life World Run will feature up to 40 races starting simultaneously around the world. Half an hour after the gun goes off, a car will leave each starting line at a constant pace. Runners will be eliminated as the car passes, until there is only one man and one woman left running in the world.
Races will be held in New Jersey, Florida, Colorado and California. The noontime start in Germany means the American locations and six other Western Hemisphere races will start before dawn. Runners in East Asia will start in the evening.
Wings for Life is the charity arm of energy drink company Red Bull. Organizers say money collected will fund research for spinal cord injuries.
