Fever guard to miss several weeks with back injury
INDIANAPOLIS -- Injury-depleted Indiana will be without starting guard Katie Douglas for several more weeks because of a bulging disc in her lower back.
Douglas, a Purdue alum, has already missed four games because of the injury. The Fever said Tuesday that testing this week showed Douglas needed more therapy and rest. No specific timetable for Douglas' return was provided in the team's statement.
Douglas played a key role in the Fever's title run last season, though she missed most of the finals with a severely sprained left ankle. This season, she averaged 17.5 points in the team's first two games but has not played since May 31. The defending champs started this season 1-5.
The list of injured Fever players includes center Jessica Davenport and guards Erin Phillips and Jeanette Pohlen.
