THE GOOD FIGHT

Until last Friday night, skateboarder Jason Ellis was known mostly for his turns on the X Games mega ramp and his loose-lipped take on music and action sports as the host of his own afternoon radio show on Sirius. Then he stepped into the Octagon.

On a special Tuesday edition of NASCAR Now, ESPN announced the participants in its 2009 celebrity Stock Car Challenge. What is The Challenge and what does it have to do with action sports? Well … it's a fantasy NASCAR league populated by former drivers, team owners, ESPN analysts and avid NASCAR fans. The fans? John Cena, Philadelphia Flyers center Jeff Carter and freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen, the only female in the field of eight.

The Mag: Travis Pastrana At The Track

If you were given a day to do absolutely anything you wanted in the whole world, what would it be? A difficult question. But not for Jessica Kunzer, director of communications for Ski Utah. She spent last Tuesday fulfilling a dream. Well, more of a fantasy, really. She skied all 13 Utah resorts in one day. I first met Jessica a few days earlier at the Corner Pub & Grill at Park City Mountain Resort where a group of us were watching the Steelers-Chargers playoff game. I was ordering another beer; she was heading home to get some much needed rest. That's when I first heard of the plan.

For today's shredder, not all fun happens in the powder or the dirt. Sometimes a simple little stream can be heaven on Earth. Lately, more and more riders are reaching for a rod and reel and heading to where the fish are biting when they've got down time. Yes, fishing has become the de facto off-hours sport of the action sports fraternity. To prove it, we asked a few guys to give us their best fish stories. And we've got the pictures to prove it.
