Dhani Jones: Something Else I Do
We let Dhani Jones have a wall in the office to put forth an artistic vision. Scroll over the picture below to see the story unfold.
Longtime NFL linebacker Dhani Jones has a lot of interests outside of tackling running backs. The self-described "Bowtie Guy"—he really did create his own line of bow ties—also dabbles in writing, movie reviews, and will now be starring in and hosting a new show on The Travel Channel called Dhani Tackles The World. The show explore the way a sport can help define a culture, with Jones providing first hand experience as he travels around the globe.
Did we mention Dhani is also a painter? Before he was sent off on a tour of the world, the aspiring Jasper Johns stopped by the office to demonstrate. We marked off a canvas of sorts in the form an editor's office wall. (She was in Bristol for the day at ESPN HQ.) Over the course of the day, Jones whipped up an oversized creation that tells some personal stories, as well as the story of the NFL—at least in the mind of the artist. To see how Dhani interprets the reign of Tom Brady, the Payton (sic) Manning run of dominance, the Leinart-Warner dynamic and other such topics, simply roll over the painting with the mouse. And prepare for an education.
