Memphis fans had the blues when point guard Derrick Rose jumped to the pros. But that was before Evans, the nation's top freshman shooting guard—and a slick ballhandler to boot—showed up on campus. Jason Kidd worked out with the 6'6" Evans this summer and said afterward, "He has the potential to be one of the greats." At the very least, Evans should prove that a Rose by any other name can smell just as sweet.

HEIR APPARENT "Derrick and I are very similar. He may be faster, but I shoot better."

PATENT INFRINGEMENT "Tracy McGrady does this hesitation move. The first time I tried it, in 10th grade, the guy defending me stumbled back, and the crowd roared."

ONE AND DONE? "I waited for Coach Calipari to agree to his extension before I signed. He knows what it takes to get to the next level."
