Everything I knew about Japanese baseball was from Tom Selleck in Mr. Basebal. So when I found out we were going, I had to bring a camera. Me and Mark Ellis are playing catch before the game against the Yomiuri Giants. The turf was nice, like Tampa Bay. But there were differences. The billboards are different—as you can see, there's a big image of Ichiro behind me. And the fans are a bit more crazy. The atmosphere is unlike anything we have over here. It was especially difficult when we're playing defense: When we're hitting, it's crickets, but they have chants and cheers for every one of their players when they're at the plate. They bang air sticks, drums. It was cool. I hit a home run, by the way. That was cool too.
