You may know how Bruce Weber is feeling at this particular moment, as his Fighting Illini go down in double OT to Indiana: Ooof, another sordid revelation in the Roger Clemens saga ("There will be blood"); Aaargh, Reggie Bush might lose his Heisman; Yikes, what was that poor kid thinking, the one who staged his signing with Cal?; Yeesh, Phil Mickelson took a sextuple bogey on 14 at Pebble Beach; Oh no, Bobby Knight is retiring.
But as the Giants' improbable victory in Super Bowl XLII showed everyone who isn't a Patriots fan, it ain't all bad: Pitchers (Johan Santana! Erik Bedard!) and catchers are reporting. Shaq's going from the Heat to the Suns. The Redskins' search for a coach is over. The PGA can have an exciting tournament without Tiger. Oh yes, Bobby Knight is retiring.
So don't let the congressional hearings or the U-Dub 2000 Rose Bowl revelations or the assorted DUIs, shootings and prison terms get you down. The Daytona 500, the Final Four, the Masters, Opening Day and the NFL draft are all right around the corner.
To quote Scripture (I Thessalonians 5:21), "Hold fast to that which is good." Just like David Tyree.
