Who will win the World Series this year?
GREENY On paper, the Tigers improved the most. Getting Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis
who might just need a change of scenerywas the winter's biggest deal. That said, I don't think they're going to make the playoffs.
GOLIC I have a tough time not picking the Mets with Johan Santana. Pedro Martinez made just five starts last season, so he's the X factor. If Pedro gives the Mets anything, they're the team to beat in the East, if not the entire NL.
GREENY A team that's often overlooked is Seattle. The Mariners had a good run last season before they went on that late losing streak. The Angels are still the best team in the AL West, but if you want to go out on a small limb, take the Mariners to win the division.
GOLIC Then there are the Indians. They came within one win of the World Series. But because of
last year, they'll have a target on their backs. Cleveland isn't sneaking up on anyone this time.
GREENY I agree. I pick Cleveland to win the Series, and the reason is C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona.
GOLIC My hometown team! You can't take my Tribe. Pick someone else.
GREENY If I had to pick a different AL team, it would be the Red Sox. But Schilling's injury could be a harbinger of bad things. Boston depends a lot on veterans, and when you do that, things can go the wrong way. Both the Yankees and the Red Sox will live to regret not having made the moves to get Santana. Maybe those young pitchers in BostonJon Lester and Clay Buchholzwill be terrific, but if I had to bet on one group against the other, I'd take Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain.

Will you stop calling me?
Please?
How many numbers are on your speed dial?
Do you have Bob Knight's phone number?
How proud are you that your teams have never phoned it in?
Can you hear me now?
Prediction Sure To Be Wrong
GREENY For the first time ever, an NBA team will win 50 games and not make the playoffs.
GOLIC An Eastern Conference playoff team that finishes the regular season under .500 will advance to the second round.
