On this day in 1951, the 22nd Amendment was ratified, limiting US Presidents to only two terms. Whew . Tonight, a few college squads are in the same boat as John McCain: looking to recover from a disastrous time, and plot a new forward course.
Duke, still ranked No. 6, hosts Georgia Tech (9pm, ESPN). The last time they won an ACC game was February 13th; Castro was still President of Cuba then (zing!). Anytime Duke plays and they're seemingly in a free fall is a good time to bring this out. It somewhat speaks to the end of civilization.
Down in TN, civilization isn't ending: the Tigers will probably still get a No. 1 seed. Still, though, they play their first game since the loss to Tennessee when they host Tulsa. If you'll allow Mag.Com a few seconds of indulgence, our college hoops preview featured Tyler Hansbrough, Derrick Rose, and D.J. Augustin. That represents 3 of the top 4 teams in America right now! (Ed's note: Holla!)
NBA action should be interesting as Sacramento visits Atlanta (7pm). Expect this conversation around mid-court at 6:40pm:
Bibby: So, uh, how things going?
Artest: I hate you.
The real centerpiece of the NBA evening, though, is Cleveland at Boston (7:30pm), a potential Eastern Conference Finals preview. Get psyched for this one checking out LeBron's Top 10 Career Dunks , the Celtics Big Three doing their thing for us , or Paul Pierce going bowling .
If pop culture is more your thing, celebrate the birth of People Magazine, on this date in 1974. Meanwhile, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of TLC is 37 today; we wonder what she thinks of her girl T-Boz shacking up with Takeo . Tony Gonzalez of the Kansas City Chiefs is 32, so take a gander at his views on what's sexy . And finally, Myron Cope left us today; if this video doesn't make you understand his hold on Pittsburgh, nothing will.
We'll leave you with this: Bill Walton and Will Ferrell playing some H-O-R-S-E together . It's funny, and we're halfway certain Semi Pro will sweep the '09 Oscars.
Tomorrow on Mag.Com (starting at 8am): more spring training reports, a faux resume, more content from the upcoming print issue, a brand new open letter, and so much more. See ya.
