W2W4: WEEKEND DELIGHT

Leap with us into March
There are 28 different definitions for "leap" on Dictionary.Com. We're really just focusing on one today: "non-existent." Honestly, Ja Rule is eight years old? How ridiculous is that? At that age, his entire career could get him arrested. Meanwhile, from a day rare in nature, we spring through (that's another definition!) to a month rare for its bounty of exciting sports moments. The Madness is about to begin.
Before you get to March, you gotta end February, though. Cam Ward, who led the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup in his first season, is six years old today (er, 24). Simon Gagne, who lets people go on tours of his house , and also plays hockey in a dominant way, is seven years old! (Uh, 28).
Tomorrow, though, is what we're frothing at the mouth to discuss. The Month of Love gives way to The Month of Dick Vitale, and we couldn't be happier [Ed's note: New series, "Know Your Mid-Major," dropping here in a week or so!] How perfect is it that the anniversary of the first game ever played at Allen Fieldhouse is March 1 (1955), and tomorrow night, College Gameday will be there for another epic battle between Michael Beasley's Kansas State squad and the Jayhawks. The last time? KSU won . Georgetown and Marquette also go head-to-head, in a classic example of a game the Hoyas should win, but likely won't [Ed's note: Our office has a "Georgetown guy" and a "Duke guy," and they're equally annoying]
All in all, 17 of the Top 25 teams in America are in action Saturday, with six of the other eight doing their thing on Sunday. Selection Sunday? Two weekends away! Allow us, for a second, to link to this . Ah, Luther. "The ball is tipped..."
Chris Webber's birthday is Saturday, and since we're talking about college, might as well show this . Alan Thicke's birthday is also Saturday (ha, could you find two more random people to share a day?) so, show us that smile again .
We smile at natural segues, and you should smile at Lakers vs. Mavericks (ABC) on Sunday; 'tis a battle of two top teams in the West. Tennessee and Kentucky lock horns on the college 94 footer, which should give UK a solid chance to look at Chris Lofton. The dude was Mr. Basketball in the state, but Tubby didn't want him. Now he's nailed more 3 balls than anyone in SEC history, and UK is clinging to their Dance hopes (Tubby's in Minnesota, we think).
Our boss over here tells us "get more pics of hot girls on the site" (n.b. She's a woman), and two birthdays Sunday give us that chance: Ben Roethlisberger and Reggie Bush . Those links? Their women. Hotness.
And, of course, in the sport that dominates all others, it's the ultimate leap of faith weekend, as NFL free agency begins. We won't be around, but we'll be here Monday to react, along with more 10th Anniversary content, a look at the Crossword Puzzle Championships, an interview with Bennett Salvatore, Barry Bonds' resume, and so, so much more. You'll definitely see a sudden, and decisive, increase in content, like ya do every other day. Yea. A leap.
