"I have long considered Carmen Renee Thompson a friend and confidant."

We're rolling out a "Fun Facts" for every first round series. We'll finish the Eastern Conference by the end of today, then tackle the West tomorrow. Now: (4) Cavaliers vs. (5) Wizards. Central storyline: LeBron vs. Gilbert! But, oh, there's so much more.

(1) Quicken Loans Arena has a scoreboard function called "The DIFF," identifying the difference between the two teams' scores (can people not subtract two-digit numbers in Cleveland?) Now, the Quicken Loans Blog has a conceit called "What's the DIFF?"

(2) Hey, we were at DeShawn Stevenson's birthday party ! So was Biz Markie. Man, that dude is everywhere.

(3) First number ever retired by the Cavs? Robert "Bingo" Smith, who helped the team win the 1975-1976 Central Division. Bingo Smith! Could you imagine that name in the hands of Kevin Harlan? Bingo is also in the Tulsa Athletics Hall of Fame. Tulsa! Their mascot (Captain Cane!) is an antropomorphized golden hurricane with a giant smirk on its face. We like using big words in these things.

(4) Antawn Jamison's name is actually a mistake. It was supposed to be "Antwan." The birth certificate had a typo (we're all human), and the family decided to keep it because it was distinctive.

(5) Damon Jones is the only NBA player to have a shoe contract with a Chinese company, repping Li-Ning.

(6) Wizards reserve Oleksiy Pecherov is from Donetsk in the Ukranian SSR of Russia. You know who else is from there? Child singer Assol. Doesn't that seem like an awful name? She's actually a really good singer. Check out some of her clips here .

(7) Some people found the Lebron/Gisele cover of Vogue offensive , apparently because they thought he was being depicted as King Kong and she Fay Wray. People get fired up about a lot of stuff these days; when we first heard flack about this, we just assumed Tom Brady was doing a lot of sly Internet postings under different handles.
