"Kimbo Slice is the real deal (Not Quite What You Were Thinking, June 8). Just because his career began as a struggle on the mean streets of Miami1 doesn't make him less legit than traditionally trained fighters." -TMUJAAHID, ESPNTHEMAG.COM
"Kimbo may not be the best2, but he has the heart and soul of a samurai."3
-JFBANZAI, ESPNTHEMAG.COM
"Remember how all the golfers on tour resented Tiger when he announced he was going pro? Look at him now."4

1. Miami has its share of vice—and even more road rage. According to a recent survey, the city boasts the least courteous drivers in the country.
2. "That makes perfect sense," Slice tells The Mag. "I'm not the best." Aww, we think he's too modest. Going into his prime-time bout, he was undefeated.
3. Not quite—he's more of a brawler than a martial artist. But he adds, "I do have a good heart, so that's about right." Who knew?
4. Slice should be so lucky. Experts predict that by the time Woods turns 34—Slice's current age—he'll be America's first billionaire athlete.

MILKING IT
Days after taking the checkered flag at the Indy 500, New Zealander Scott Dixon had lost none of his celebratory mood. The Iceman stopped by our New York office and, after reflecting on what a "perfect day" his win at the Brickyard had been, accepted a challenge from The Mag's motorsports editor, John Morris, to a different kind of race: a chugging contest. The drink of choice? Milk, of course, 12 ounces of it. Dixon must have gulped too much of the white stuff on Victory Lane, because Morris trounced the Kiwi, finishing in 2.5 seconds. (Dixon's cup was still half full and his shirt was drenched with milk.)
WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT … 1992?
