The Love Guru comes out at midnight. To be completely honest, we're not sure what it's about; it seems to feature Verne Troyer in a highly prominent role, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs. That latter part is awesome, because not enough movies over time have focused on the Maple Leafs. There are several films in cinematic history with a focal slant towards one sports organization. Here's a few examples by way of Clip Reel.
Obviously, the Major League movies are about the Indians.
We love the "Hats for bats" scene in that movie.
And when Jake Taylor bunts.
The Mighty Ducks movies are, well, about the Mighty Ducks. SYNERGY ALERT!
That movie was actually pretty good.
Celtic Pride focused on the Celtics (and oddly, the Jazz).
Angels in the Outfield
For Love of the Game is pretty Tigers centric.
Rookie of the Year = Cubs.
Little Big League = Twins.
Fever Pitch = Red Sox.
Here's a detailed summary of said film.
This new film Marley and Me with Jennifer Aniston seems to have the Marlins as a main plot point.
The Break Up has a lot to do with the Cubs, as well.
The Sixth Man = Washington Huskies.
Rudy = ND Football (duh).
Parenthood has some ties to the St. Louis Cardinals.
