REPORTING FROM THE JOCK-OSPHERE:
SPEED-EATING EDITION

Jocks blog. We report. (You decide!)
We don't usually kick off a Jock-osphere with a competitive eater, but a) this is our attempt at lobbying the IOC (at least our attempt that doesn't involve gratuitous cash payments, which probably disqualifies us) and b) when the guy is linking to his own, captivating videos then we're linking to him.
Plus, it's almost lunch.
Pat Bertoletti: Jimmy Johns Freaky Fast Chowdown
Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti attempts to eat subs as quickly as they are made:
"This is a video from my last contest where myself, gravy brown, and Patrick Van Damn took on 3 of Jimmy Johns' fastest sandwich makers," he writes. "The goal was to eat the sandwiches faster than they could make them and have no sandwiches remaining at the end of 10 minutes. We didn't even stand a chance, I think I ate around 10-14 ( 8") sandwiches in 10 min."
Make sure you give the video a look: Pat's eating skills are undeniable, and his mohawk, titillating.
Todd Yoder: My Brett Favre Theory
The Redskins' other other TE throws down his say on all things Favre:
"Should Brett Favre take the 20 million and just retire?" he writes. "I think I would! Just take the money go fishing, play golf, hang out at some local bar to tell stories of the good old days. Oh and just count the dollars still rolling in. Brett, you just got paid for sitting on your ass. I think this is every American's dream; so just live the dream, take the money.
"Let's all give a hand to Brett's agent Bus Cook. This could be the first time an agent has ever gotten money for a player not playing football. The question is, did Bus open up a new Pandora's box for agents and the NFL with this offer? Take a look at the possible fallout after such a deal. Every NFL player will search for the same compensation and may even be pissed if the agents can't deliver. I don't mean the same exact terms of Brett's deal, but why not have your agent shop around a price for other teams to pay you to retire. That's right, have other teams pay star players to hang up their cleats. Obviously they would have to give them the money to buy out of their contracts, but NFL organizations have seemingly endless amounts of money so why not?"
There are more than a few holes in this theory, but I like your style, Yoder: you type from the hip.
Chris Cooley: Your Kiss is on My List
No, Hall & Oates didn't make Cooley's real list, but they might as well have—Phil Collins is on there:
"I figured every one likes to look through an iPod so I just went back and found the last 20 songs I listened to," he writes. "These are from the trip to Canton and I think it might be cool to put down the top 20 from every game this season. Also, I'll try to provide a new players soundtrack with mine. I think we will find some awesome new songs.
1. Coldplay - Violet Hill
2. Kid Rock - All Summer Long
3. Mickey Avalon - Jane Fonda
4. Kalai - Honeymoon Uh Huh
5. Thriving Ivory - Angels on the Moon
6. David Grey - You're the World to Me
7. Skid Row - Wasted Time
8. Fall Out Boy - Beat It
9. AFI - The Leaving Song
10. Foo Fighters - The Pretender
11. Feeder - High

13. Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into the Dark
15. Art Alexakis - Harvest
16. Jack Johnson - Flake
17. Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
18. I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business - The Best Happiness Money Can Buy
19. Modest Mouse - One Chance
20. Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
"Yes by creating this list of music I'm sure I'll face some criticism, but this is what I've been listening too."
Good show, Chris, way to put yourself out there. High marks for Death Cab, Dylan and Modest Mouse. Again, Phil Collins, not so much. Try '1,000 Wives' by The Whigs if you're looking for a dreamy, reflective replacement for 'In The Air Tonight.'
Errol Kerr: Rocking Them Heelys
The skier is humbled by the greatest pair of shoes on earth:
"I have never been on roller shoes in my life," he writes. "I have seen kids walking down the street and then starting rolling, and I thought it was the easiest thing ever until I tried a pair. I have a totally new respect for people who roll around in their shoes. Check out the video. It's hilarious. If you never have roller-shoe'd, try to find a pair that fits you. I think they make them for kids. You would have to look to the far end of the earth to find them, but, when you do, video it. I want to see it. It's hilarious. I have a brand new respect!!"
Jarrett Bush: Brett Favre is in the Building
Jarrett Bush of the Packers breezing over some important information:
"Just got done with out family night intersquad scrimmage, and went really well and i guess you all know brett came in to green bay today, if you saw the nfl network channel," he writes. "So yea the defense played really well and so we just gotta keep playing like we are. Just dropped by to say whats up and whats going on my side."
Um, yeah, we scrimmaged and some guy named Brett came back to Green Bay today. No biggie.
Annika Sorenstam: Saying Goodbye to the British Open
"As you probably know, today was the final round of my last British Open," she writes. "I will never forget the crowds and the support I received on each hole despite the rain that lasted almost my entire round. I played brilliantly today, hitting all 18 greens and shooting a 68. I had two three-putts and hit a lot of lips, or my score would have been as memorable as the day itself. It was nice to birdie the 18th hole and I must admit that I shed a few tears. The fans, articles in the media here, television, players, caddies, and everyone involved with the event could not have been nicer. It was very touching! I am glad I got to share it with Terry and Mike."
