STRONGMAN

Not how we'd spend a Saturday but hey: to each their own, right?
Chances are you've been up north of 2am a few times and seen a 'strong man' competition on TV (way back when, ESPN televised that stuff all the time). Is it natural for a man to attempt to pull a truck via a rope? Probably not, but we're not here to argue intelligent design. Instead, we want you to learn more about the craft of a strongman, through a new feature piece in ESPN The Magazine by Gare Joyce. It tells the story of Steve MacDonald (you can see an E:60 interview with him here, as well), the world's strongest man who doubles as a Pittsburgh bartender. Joyce also write an online-exclusive sidebar to his magazine piece; it details old school strongmen. Oh, and a double bonus: between the two pieces, there are six videos of dudes lifting and bending things that no one should lift and bend. Give it all a look.
