Truth: once, when Mike Leach was recruiting California as an assistant at Oklahoma, he rented a pair of inline skates, then completely wiped out trying to skate down a boardwalk. It was a tough call to make to Bob Stoops. In the present, Leach is head coach of the No. 2 team in the country, the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He plays his old boss on November 22nd in Norman, in a game that could rival LSU/'Bama and 'Bama/Florida for "Game of the Century of the Week" status as November wears on. If you want to learn more about Leach and his star receiver, the tightrope-walking-with-one-second-left Michael Crabtree, click here. There you'll find senior writer Bruce Feldman's article on Crabtree from our college football preview issue and a nice video with Leach, in which he discusses his fascination with pirates. If you're trying to figure out how the sleepy town of Lubbock is home to a team on track to Miami at present, this will definitely help you out.
