The NEXT: Broyles Award Winner
This is a pretty good indicator of "the next guy to become a head coach."

The next Broyles Award winner will be one of these five men: Kevin Wilson (offensive coordinator of the Oklahoma Sooners); Charlie Strong (defensive coordinator of the Florida Gators); Gary Andersen (defensive coordinator for the Utah Utes); Dick Bumpas (defensive coordinator of the TCU Horned Frogs) or Stan Parrish (offensive coordinator for the Ball State Cardinals). If you're not sure what the Broyles Award is, take a look at this list of past winners. Chizik, Shannon, Mangino, Friedgren and Cutcliffe are all current head coaches and Friedgren and Mangino have both coached in a BCS game (it seems likely Shannon will within a few years, too). We think this is probably a race between Strong and Wilson (the Sooners hang 60 on basically everyone), but don't discount anything Ball State.
