ESPN The Magazine's Story of the Year 2008
Chris Jones traces the year in sports.

In the December 15 issue of ESPN The Magazine, Chris Jones writes "The Things We Forget," a chronicle of 2008 in sports. In the magazine itself, it takes up 14 pages, which is fairly intense. You don't want to read something that long on one URL, do ya? We didn't think so. We divided it into 11 parts. You can start here, with Part 1 about the closing of Yankee Stadium, and proceed through at your own pace. There are sections about Michael Phelps, Annika Sorenstam, the Boston Celtics, Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate, Sidney Crosby and much, much more. As a cool bonus, you can take a look at four receipts that Jones rang up on his travels to do this story, with an explanation by him of each expense.
