The NEXT: Way to Contextualize Jerry Sloan
We had to put it in these terms.

"SLOAN!!!"
A tremendous article on Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan by J.A. Adande can be found here. Oddly, we were discussing Sloan at lunch yesterday, and this debate arose: "Has he been coaching the Jazz longer than The Simpsons has been on the air?" First line of Adande's article: "He took over the conductor's baton of the Utah Jazz from the popular Frank Layden on Dec. 9, 1988…" From The Simpsons Wiki: "Since its debut on December 17, 1989…" Hmm. Sloan has been coaching the Jazz since before Waylon Smithers was drawn as black? Wow, we're old.
