Yesterday we gave you an article about The Greatest Game Ever Played (Watch it on December 13th at 9ET on ESPN!) and asked you to chime in with your own favorite sports matchups. The people have spoken. Take a look at some of your nominees so far:

This game got several mentions:

2006 AFC Championship Game: Colts 38 Patriots 34 "The Greatest Comeback of All Time"

• We were wondering when somebody would mention this one:

From linkfanNo1
1980, Lake Placid, New York, the Winter Olympics. In 1980, the United States is going through a horrible time—at home we have a stagnant economy, inflation is running rampant [Ed.'s note: That sounds horrible]. Abroad, Iran has held U.S. citizens hostage for over a year. In the Olympics, the United States hockey team (seeded 7th) played the Soviet Union, seeded No. 1 and unquestionably the best team in the world. The Soviets had thrashed the U.S. a few days before the Olympics 10-3. So the Americans, a ragtag band of college and minor league hockey players, had no chance. And yet, at the end of two periods, the U.S. only trailed 3-2. And at 8:39 into the third and final period, the Americans tied the game. Unbelievable! Could this really be? One minute and 21 seconds later, Mike Eruzione scored to put the US up 4-3. For the remaining 10 minutes of the game, the fans screamed USA! USA!. And as the clock wound down the final 10 seconds, broadcaster Al Michaels asked and answered his own question, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" Greatest Game Ever? Without a Doubt!

• In terms of the sheer importance of this image, this has to be at or near the top:

From AAAwalrus:
Game 1 of the 1988 World Series was also fantastic.
