The NEXT: Geographical Dispute To Have
The West Coast doesn't have a ton of rings, does it?

Watching No Country for Old Men on Sunday morning with a friend, and this discussion arose: the West Coast isn't great for pro sports championships, is it? We'll get the caveat out of the way first: there are more franchises on the east coast (for example, New York/Boston/Philly and DC are all four-sport towns right now). But since 1990, here are the titles from teams in California, Oregon and Washington: in the NFL, the 49ers have one ("Get the monkey off my back!"); in the NHL, the Ducks have one; in the NBA, the Lakers have three and in MLB, the Angels have one. So, between over 15 teams from Seattle to San Diego across 18 years, those three states have six championships. Doesn't it seem like they should have more? (If you're interested in the geographical distribution of sports excellence, watch this.)
