The Hull City Project: A Loss To Wigan Athletic
It's bad and getting worse for Hull City right now.

A road loss on Sunday to Wigan Athletic leaves the Hull City Tigers four points clear of the drop with eight games to play. Wigan is one of the surprise teams of the EPL this year, so getting a road point or three was going to be a difficult task for City, but as the schedule winds down, all points are so critical for the Black and Amber and their quest to stay up. A few of my City Fan friends made the trek to the match and did not give Wigan favorable reviews. Can we use expletives on this site? (Ed's note: No.) Anyway, that's how it was described by supporter Chris Ashton.
Meanwhile, my trusty conduit to all things Hull—the Hull Daily Mail's Charlie Mullan—sent me a note on Facebook.
Subject: Squeaky bum time
"Well Jeff, City returned to league action after the FA Cup 'spit-spat' where Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas spat at City's assistant manager Brian Horton at the Flemirates Stadium (as I now like to call the Emirates Stadium). After the Tigers' FA Cup exit, somebody told me they thought they saw you at the JJB Stadium in Wigan and I thought that was the reason why City returned to losing ways. The Bradley Curse still seems to have legs.
Thoughts of a Top Six finish and a spot in a European competition (which is where the club was standing when you paid a visit to our shores, Jeff) have long gone for City who are just four places and four points above the relegation zone. Phil Brown now has a two-week break to prepare his side for the crucial home game against Portsmouth. If results go against them, City could drop to 17th and find themselves just a point above the drop. Tigers fans will hope they can continue their sequence of not losing a game after all five England games this season. As Sir Alex Ferguson so famously said: 'It's squeaky bum time!'"
