Getting to Know ... AJ Hinch
The new Diamondbacks manager -- what should you know about him?

Hinch raking for the Phillies in spring training 2004. Five years later, he's a manager. Wonderful country we live in.
Got to work this morning, realized Bob Melvin was canned, and immediately thought of two things: (1) the NL West is a vastly different landscape now, eh? and (2) job should go to Kirk Gibson! Sadly, the latter never happened. It went to AJ Hinch, a former catcher for a few organizations -- for some reason, we best remember him in Oakland. Here's his career stats. In a word: underwhelming. Here's a cool thing, though: dude understands Web 2.0. He even started a blog since working for the D-Backs. That squad has a lot of young talent…can they put it together? Cue the cliche gallery: "That's why they play the games."
