Let's use Coach K to figure out Kobe vs. LeBron

He coached 'em both in Beijing, recruited 'em both, and knows MJ too. So, let's try this.

Coach K helped this pic happen, so what does he think about each dude?

2008 Olympics were important for men's basketball. They had to win gold. They did. Whew. Two big reasons: Kobe and LeBron. So, flash forward almost a year. LeBron, the current MVP, who everyone says has surpassed Kobe, is down 3-1 in his ECF series, but Kobe -- who has about 32,000 miles on him right now -- is up 3-2. Hm, so Kobe is better? But LeBron is MVP! Look, this argument can't really be settled. We're gonna try to use archival research from Coach K to do it, though. Click 'read more.'

Here's what Coach K said about LeBron after the Olympics:

"His leadership (stands out). I think he is natural leader and can be a great leader and became an outstanding leader for us. Now, being one of the leaders on the Olympic team is one thing. Now he is a star and a leader of the Cleveland Cavaliers and I think it's something he loves. As good of a player he is, I think he's a better leader."

Here's what he said about Kobe in his book, which came out earlier this month:

"In finally getting my opportunity to coach Kobe Bryant, I found that he is who I thought he was. One of the most talented basketball players in the history of the game and the unique kind of competitor that may come around only once in a leader's lifetime."

Hmmm. It sounds like he leans Kobe a bit, eh?
