ESPNTheMag.Com Fun Fact of the Day: Comments and Watering Holes
Sometimes, things got a lot of comments that weren't from the Magazine. Let's take a look.

"Yo, this college football galaxy map is gonna be huge for us!" Insert pause for reflection.
As we have written, ESPNTheMag.Com is merging with ESPN Insider. In the spirit of the final days of 'Mag.Com,' we're rolling out some 'fun facts' on the site's history.
Pretty soon after we started this site, most of us associated with it realized that the only thing getting heavy comments were articles that actually appeared in the print issue of ESPN The Magazine. Fo' real -- online comments mean next to nothing, especially when you consider the first four comments on every article on ESPN.Com are "first!" followed by "first!" and then "frist!" The first ('frist') thing we ever posted that got over 1,000 comments was Stephen A. Smith's first column, called 'Up Front,' about racial issues in the NBA. We've posted a few other things with good reader reaction. Check it out -- and then, a surprise bonus too.
Our friend C. Sprow got torn apart by a pack of Bluegrass-dwelling wolves for this edition of 'The Morning According to Us' on Kentucky basketball.
The person writing this summary article also wrote this, and got shredded on the Interwebs.
Depressingly, though, this didn't do too well.
Most articles that did appear in print -- you can find a full archive of them since February 2008 by starting here and working backwards -- received a fair amount of comments.
And, finally, the bonus: a few times (sparingly) over the past 18 months, we've had people e-mail us and ask us about watering holes to watch sports in. If you live in New York, you should start that search here. If you're looking for the people that work on this site on a Friday around happy hour, your three best bets are here, here, and here. We'll talk shop with ya -- be prepared to discuss any of this stuff.
