MIKE & MIKE
THERE ARE MANY CANDIDATES FOR MLB'S POSTSEASON AWARDS. BUT WHO'S GOT THE VOTES?
MIKE & MIKE HIT THIS AND OTHER STORIES.

GREENY: CC Sabathia should be the National League's MVP for the way he energized that team, organization and city, not to mention what he's done to overcome a bad bullpen. He is the single biggest reason the Brewers will make the playoffs.
GOLIC: Not a chance. It's not a half-year award. And how many games out were they when they got him? The same number they are now. He doesn't get my MVP award, or even my Cy Young. My AL Cy Young goes to Cliff Lee, and in the NL it's tough not to go with Brandon Webb.
GREENY: Webb is slipping, opening the door for baseball's most underappreciated pitcher: Tim Lincecum. Nobody pays a lot of attention to him, but he could be the best pitcher in the NL.
GOLIC: You're right, Webb has struggled a bit lately. But Lincecum needs to get a few more wins. If he catches up in that category, he could win it.
GREENY: Now that Carlos Quentin is out, the AL MVP may depend on who makes the playoffs. It's hard to take any one guy from Anaheim. If Minnesota wins its division, it could be Joe Mauer or Justin Morneau. And who could've known Boston's two candidates would be Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis?
GOLIC: We're forgetting the Rays.
GREENY: I'm not sure who'd get it. You'd almost have to give the award to the whole team for what it has accomplished.
GOLIC: When it comes to legit NL MVP contenders, no one really grabs hold. Ryan Howard has a lot of homers and RBIs but an awful average. Carlos Delgado has been hot lately, but Albert Pujols was hurt early and still put up his usual numbers. I think you've got to go with him.
MICHAEL PHELPS' NEXT ACT
GREENY: The Davie Brown Index says 95% of consumers know Phelps. He has become the most desirable endorser in the country, ahead of names like Jordan and Oprah. Certainly, his place in history is safe. But does he have staying power as a celebrity? And does he even want to be one?
GOLIC: He'll no doubt be in lots of commercials, but if he wants to stay in the limelight, he's going to have to cross over. And remember this: He's not retired. He wants to continue to swim—and what got him all those medals was that he has always swam six days a week. That leaves less time for commercials and appearances. Once he starts hitting the pool again, you may see him slide off the radar a little.
STONE COLD LEAD PIPE LOCKS
GREENY: Tiger Woods' pregnant wife, Elin, will be mentioned more times during the Ryder Cup broadcast than any of the American players.
GOLIC: The winner of the USC-Ohio State game will be in the national championship.
