Martina Navratilova, who won 1,442 singles matches, usually left the opposition far behind.

Happy International Left-hander's Day! Martina Navratilova is perhaps the most successful women's tennis player ever, and certainly the most successful left-hander. Navratilova holds the record for singles titles in the Open Era (from 1973 to present) with 167, and won 1,442 singles matches in her storied career. Her 18 Grand Slam titles are tied for second with Chris Evert, four behind Steffi Graf. And Navratilova's nine Wimbledon titles and 12 Wimbledon finals appearances rank first all-time. Another lefty, Monica Seles, is tied for fifth all-time with 53 singles titles.
