It would be tough to imagine a better senior season for Manvel's Brianna Turner.
The Notre Dame recruit, who averaged 20.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3.9 blocks and 3.7 steals, led Manvel to a state championship earlier this month. On Thursday she was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year.
Turner, the No. 2 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 for the 2014 class, is scheduled to play in the McDonald's All American Games next month in Chicago.
Turner, a 6-foot-3 forward, follows Tennessee's Mercedes Russell as Gatorade's national player of the year. Connecticut's Breanna Stewart was the 2012 recipient.
