Wrestlers earn berths at worlds

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Olympians Elena Pirozhkova and Tervel Dlagnev led a list of nine wrestlers who won their weight class at the U.S. World Team Trials on Saturday to advance to the world championships.

Pirozhkova and Dlagnev each competed in the London Games. The world championships are in Budapest, Hungary, in September.

Pirozhkova swept Erin Clodgo to win at 63 kilograms (139 pounds).

Dlagnev pounded Tyrell Fortune 6-0, 7-0 in the freestyle heavyweight division.

Former Iowa star Brent Metcalf earned his second trip to the worlds, as did Obe Blanc at 55 kilograms (121 pounds).

The trials conclude on Sunday.
