Martina Hingis to play in Toronto
TORONTO -- Martina Hingis has added a Toronto stop on her comeback tour.
The 32-year-old Swiss tennis star and former world No. 1 will play doubles at the Aug. 3-11 Rogers Cup. Hingis recently announced she was coming out of retirement to play doubles at an event next week in California.
She received a wild-card entry into the doubles draw in Toronto and her partner is still to be determined.
Hingis won the 1999 and 2000 Rogers Cup singles titles, as well as doubles trophies in 1998 and 2000. She is a five-time grand slam champion in singles -- three Australian Opens, one at Wimbledon and another at the U.S. Open -- and has also won nine major titles in women's doubles and one in mixed doubles.
