AFL Power Rankings
1. (1) Dallas (15-1)
Last week: Beat Colorado 77-58
There was no letdown for the Desperados. They came out focused and manhandled Colorado to earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
2. (2) Georgia (14-2)
Last week: Beat New Orleans 68-42
The Force continue to break virtually every offensive record and they easily defeated New Orleans in their regular season finale. This team is primed for the playoffs.
3. (3) San Jose (13-3)
Last week: Beat Las Vegas 73-46
The SaberCats' defense and special teams dominated the Gladiators, accounting for five TDs. They even added three rushing TDs in a lopsided win.
4. (4) Chicago (12-4)
Last week: Beat Kansas City 48-21
The Rush defense had a great game versus the Brigade, shutting them out in the second half to lock up the Central Division title.
5. (5) Kansas City (10-6)
Last week: Beat Lost to Chicago 48-21
The Brigade ran into a Chicago defense that totally shut them down in the second half and it cost them the Central Division title.
6. (8) Tampa Bay (9-7)
Last week: Beat Austin 55-51
The Storm continue to play smart and efficient football. They get contributions from a lot of different players and are hot heading into the playoffs.
7. (11) Philadelphia (8-8)
Last week: Beat Orlando 63-49
This week: at Philadelphia
QB Tony Graziani led his team to a come-from-behind victory aided by a Soul defense that controlled the Orlando offense and held it to only 14 second half points.
8. (7) Orlando (8-8)
Last week: Lost to Philadelphia 63-49
As good as the Predators usually play on defense, they couldn't make stops when they had to in a loss to the Soul. It didn't help that Orlando's offense was practically shut down in the second half.
9. (6) Los Angeles (9-7)
Last week: Lost to Utah 47-37
The Avengers threw six interceptions QB Sonny Cumbie threw four, QB Tim Hicks threw one and even WR Kevin Ingram tossed one -- in an embarrassing home loss to Utah.
10. (10) Utah (8-8)
Last week: Beat Utah 47-37
The usually unreliable Blaze defense had a great night versus the Avengers, intercepting six passes, and QB Joe Germaine and WR Siaha Burley also came up big.
11. (9) Colorado (8-8)
Last week: Lost to Dallas 77-58
The Crush were no match for the physical Desperados. Now they limp into the playoffs on a four-game losing streak.
12. (12) Columbus (7-9)
Last week: Beat New York 74-43
QB Matt Nagy had a big day on offense while DB Jerald Brown was huge on defense as the Destroyers completely outclassed the fading Dragons.
13. (13) Nashville (7-9)
Last week: Beat Grand Rapids 57-54
The Kats started slow but rebounded with a solid effort from QB Jeff Smoker and a huge performance by the special team units.
14. (14) New Orleans (5-11)
Last week: Lost to Georgia 68-42
The VooDoo defense had no answer for the potent Georgia passing game, but, then again, who does? New Orleans also struggled to move the ball versus the Force defense.
15. (15) Arizona (4-12)
Last week: Bye
The Rattlers wrapped up a very disappointing season a week early and they have a lot of work to do in the offseason, especially on defense.
16. (18) Austin (4-12)
Last week: Lost to Tampa Bay 55-51
Even though the Wranglers have long been out of the playoff race, they played hard versus Tampa Bay and were in the game right up until the final seconds.
17. (16) New York (5-11)
Last week: Lost to Columbus 74-43
Without QB Aaron Garcia, the Dragons' offense just doesn't generate a lot of points and shoddy pass protection for backup Rohan Davey led to another embarrassing loss.
18. (17). Grand Rapids (4-12)
Last week: Lost to Nashville 57-54
QB Adrian McPherson had a decent day passing and an even better day running, but the usually good Rampage special teams were not very good in a road loss to Nashville.
19. (19) Las Vegas (2-14)
Last week: Lost to San Jose 73-46
The Gladiators were embarrassed in their home finale as San Jose played great on defense and special teams. Bad tackling and offensive mistakes never gave Las Vegas a chance to get in the game.
